[Fix] Poker Night 2 Won’t Start

I just installed Poker Night 2 and it won’t load. After some digging around I came up with this solution!

  1. Download DINPUT8.DLL
  2. Extract it
  3. Move it to your game directory. (C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonPoker Night 2) Your might be a little different.

Crashing/unable to launch • Link

 Unplug controllers[5] • Link

Unplug any controllers/gamepads or other peripherals.
 Launch as admin[6] • Link
  1. Navigate to: SteamsteamappscommonPoker Night 2
  2. Right-click on PokerNight2.exe
  3. Click Run as administrator
 Run in compatibility mode • Link
  1. Navigate to: SteamsteamappscommonPoker Night 2
  2. Right-click on PokerNight2.exe
  3. Click Properties and then the Compatibility tab.
  4. Tick Run this program in compatibility mode for: and select an operating system in the drop-down menu.
  5. Once selected, click Apply and then OK to close the window.
 Different compatibility modes have worked for different users, it is recommended to try a variety of them.[7]

  1. Download the file dinput8.dll located here
  2. Navigate to: SteamsteamappscommonPoker Night 2 and place the file in the main directory.

 Install VC++ 2010[8] • Link
  1. Download this and install the VC++ package from Microsoft.
  2. Exit Steam and restart the client.

Missing “D3DX9_41.dll” error • Link

 Install the DirectX Updater[9] • Link
  1. Download the Online DirectX Updater Installer or the Offline DirectX Updater Installer
  2. Run the updater.
